I never knew this … I came by from the Carnival of Australia.
My punctuation is lacking .It has been far too long since I left school.University lecturers didn’t bother too much with it and in the nursing profession punctuation did not matter.

Don’t be ashamed Megan, most of us are oblivious. I know Kaj is particularly pedantic though, and to him emdashes mean the world.

On a mac they key combination for these characters is different. You type an En Dash by holding option and pressing the hyphen key, and an Em Dash by holding option–shift and pressing the hyphen key.
